Sancho then offered his version of events on social media, stating: “Please don't believe everything you read! I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't get into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair!”

Ten Hag is aware of Sancho’s comments, but reports that he remains unmoved. The Dutch coach has already taken to dropping the former Borussia Dortmund star from his plans once before, with Sancho training away from the rest of United’s first-team squad amid fitness and mental health struggles during the 2022 World Cup break.

Sancho may now find himself in hot water at Old Trafford, with Ten Hag having shown that he will not take kindly to those questioning his authority and breaking the rules. Cristiano Ronaldo was released by United after saying he “didn’t respect” Ten Hag, while Marcus Rashford was dropped to the bench for a meeting with Wolves last season after arriving late for a team meeting.
