Matthaus not convinced with Bayern's season Was critical of the players as well as club chiefs Wants to see another player to help Kane Follow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱WHAT HAPPENED?
Legendary Bayern Munich player Matthaus was underwhelmed with the club's reclamation of the Bundesliga title from rivals Bayer Leverkusen, criticising certain players as well as sporting director Max Eberl. The former German international also urged the Bayern board to make a key signing who could help Kane in sharing the burden of the attack.

Assessing Bayern's season in a column for of Germany, Matthaus congratulated Bayern, while also pointing fingers at the club's chiefs for not making the right transfer decisions. In addition to that, he also pointed out that Kane needed an ally in attack for next season.
"Overall, the season was only satisfactory in my opinion, because their performance in the cup competitions was too low," wrote Matthaus at the beginning of his column.
"Max Eberl fares worse than the coach. Michael Olise was a very good signing, but not all of his transfers have worked out. Eberl's assessment is not only about his sporting performance, but also about how he represents the club externally as sporting director. His statements about Leroy Sane on Saturday and Thomas Muller in January caused considerable confusion externally and unrest within the club," he added.
"Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman have also been with the club for a long time, and both are injury-prone. The attack would benefit from a breath of fresh air. A breath of fresh air like the one Olise has brought, who, at 21, is already performing well and still has potential for improvement.
"Bayern has the strongest squad in the Bundesliga, but they are missing a second penalty box player behind Harry Kane in attack – and a lot of things have not worked out in defense either."

Bayern are primed for a major overhaul in the summer. Muller has already announced his decision to leave, with more names in attack expected to follow the all-time Bayern appearance maker through the exit door. Gnabry's future remains uncertain, while the likes of Sane, handed an ultimatum to sign a new deal or leave for free amid Arsenal links — and Kingsley Coman, also linked to Arsenal — might not remain at the Allianz Arena beyond this summer.
The Florian Wirtz transfer rumour mill is in full swing, with several potential departures expected to generate the funds needed for a blockbuster summer move for the Leverkusen sensation.
In defence, both Dean Huijsen and Jonathan Tah have been linked with moves, as reports from England and Germany suggest growing interest. Head coach Vincent Kompany is said to be particularly eager to secure a deal for Bournemouth's 20-year-old centre-back, viewing the young talent as one for the present and the future. Eric Dier has been confirmed to depart and join Ligue 1 side Monaco, while there have been rumours linking Kim Min-jae with a potential departure, too.
